Artist’s Statement: My Poetry is Painting

In 2014 I discovered my love of painting out of desperation for balance, while working toward my doctorate in clinical psychology. Painting is a way to connect. It is a way to immerse myself in the awe of color. Painting is a way to gift myself and others with surprise. At times, my art captures memories for others with an open heart and generosity of spirit. So much is there and all around in nature. Here I find my deepest inspiration. Painting is a vast snapshot of wandering and wondering. Images captured through my senses distill me into the moment. A painting can take weeks to months. Some only a few hours or barely minutes. I want to discard some, finding delight there in a new day.

I hope my art gives pause for a peaceful moment.
